THE FOOT LOCKER NIKE BLAZERS EDIT

It’s the forefather of the Air Force 1 and the flagship of the Swoosh itself. It’s been an icon since the early ’70s and it's rocked b-ball courts, skate parks, city streets, and even catwalks all over the world. Now staple kicks for sneakerheads, a pair of Nike Blazers makes for the ideal finishing touch to all kinds of outfits. Whether you’re after women’s Nike Blazers, Nike Blazers for men, or junior Nike Blazers, you’re in the right place.

THE ORIGINAL NIKE BLAZER SHOES

The very first Nike Blazers came out in 1973, just two years after the birth of Nike’s famous Swoosh logo. As kicks, Nike Blazers were hugely important for Nike. Why? They were a plain white style so simple in their design that it was impossible to miss the soon-to-be-iconic tick logo. They kickstarted the Swoosh, and this was vital as Nike was a young brand and needed the awareness. That last part was especially important as the Nike Blazers were Nike’s very first basketball shoes – and they were competing with the well-established Converse and adidas. At the time, the Nike Blazers were on the cutting edge with their leather uppers and textured vulcanized rubber soles, more grippy for the hardwood than any of their competitors. The Blazers got endorsed by NBA Hall of Famer George ‘The Iceman’ Irving, who made them world-famous and even had what was considered to be the world’s first player-exclusive shoe model. Big stuff.

NIIKE BLAZERS: FROM HARDWOOD TO HALF-PIPE

The Nike Blazers soon fell out of favor with basketball players when their once cutting-edge tech had become outdated and been outperformed. By the ’90s, they were extinct on the hardcourt but were becoming huge on the half-pipe. Skaters discovered that the soles stuck well to their grip tape and the heavy leather uppers withstood all the wear and tear from their kickflips and ollies. In 2005, pro skater Lance Mountain led the development of the Nike Blazer for Nike SB. Tongue padding and Nike Air technology were finally introduced to the shoe for the first time, making it one of the best skate shoes around, as it still is to this day. Many more collabs would follow, including those with brands like Supreme and Off-White. From that point, the door to the world of high-end fashion opened. Is your door open too?
