KRWND Accessory

JUSTICE IS GOLDEN
At Foot Locker we’re committed to inspire real change for the future. We believe that we can accomplish that by driving communities forward.
This season, we’ve collaborated with Toronto based jewelry brand KRWND @iamkrwnd to create an accessory that pledges support for Black Lives Matter and the fight for a social justice and allows people to show their support in a different way, in their every day to day.
Kahya MC
Rachel Joanis
KRWND was founded in 2014 by Kahya MC, a young Black female, who remains both the talent and brains behind her brand. Kahya works predominantly with gold and stainless steel and her pieces have been worn by the likes of Mya, Ayesha Curry, Saweetie, Winnie Harlow, Ari Lennox, Savannah Ré and Bianca Andreescu. The inspiration for Kahya’s brand identity came from her belief that your jewels are your crown and your jewelry is an emblem that should be a direct and authentic reflection of you and it was this mantra that made KRWND the perfect partner for our project.
Speaking on the project Kahya commented:
“Working with Foot Locker has been a dream. What I appreciated the most was their willingness to create something that sends a message and gives back to a cause I care about. Jewelry has always been my greatest means of expression so to work with Foot Locker in spreading their message has been an exciting and purposeful collaboration. Although the pendants say 'Justice is golden' I acknowledge that this “golden rule” is not the reality for all. However, with this project we shed light/conversation on that inequality and strive to advocate for a justice system that does better.”
The final product features a pendant with the message “Justice Is Golden” and two 18k carat gold plated chains; one to wear as a necklace and the second to style on your sneakers.
Other contributors to this collection include Rachel Joanis @racheljoanis who is another female creative from Toronto who brought our piece to life in the design you see adorned on our packaging.
When asked what this project means to her Rachel said:
“As a female artist, I know first-hand the importance of representation, and the significance of seeing yourself reflected in art and media. As a woman of color, diversity and inclusion are always at the forefront of my creative work - I feel a responsibility and a desire to foster and promote broad representation of different ethnicities in my illustrations.
Partnering with Foot Locker EU and KRWND was an amazing opportunity to create artwork inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement and the continuing fight for social justice. My hope is that anyone who is typically underrepresented in the larger media, can see themselves in the artwork - relate to it, and wear the “Justice Is Golden” chain proudly.”
Completing our all-female line-up we have content creator and Sneaker Babe, Risa a.k.a. @VintageDollRisa, from London who has shot, created and edited all the content for this campaign.
There will only be 200 units available on exclusively on FL.EU and for every purchase a portion of proceeds will be donated to Kahya’s organization of choice, Amadeusz. This is a non-profit organization that supports young people who are incarcerated to create positive change in their lives through access to education, community supports, mentorship, and exceptional care.
